About this deal
I'm going to equip myself with a proper range of PZ bits and screwdrivers, and also get some Torxs as well. Torx bits are characterized by a 6 point star shaped pattern which are used to drive fixings with the same head pattern.
T30 Drive Screws | McMaster-Carr
The Torx screw size chart lists the screw size and the corresponding Torx socket set screw and Torx oval head screw. Torx was designed to allow for a higher torque than the conventional hex, therefore is less likely to damage the head or the tool. I bought this product recently from SF, naively thinking the head was compatible with Philips / Posidriv. I was vaguely aware of Torx, but when I compare the actual screw head with the schematic, that "star" shape is not very obvious to my eye - lack of familiarity I suppose. If the screw is difficult to remove, try heating the bit with a lighter before attempting to remove it.
To determine the size of a Torx bit, line up the ruler on the star-shaped screw tip and measure from one point to the point directly opposite. Please complete the purchase (or remove the quote – don't worry it's still available in My Account) before adding these additional items. The tip of the blade is slightly rounded, so that it can fit into the screw head without damaging it.

This design made improvements on the original which enabled higher torque to be applied while minimising wear.
Bugs the hell out of me when I hear (say, with a cordless) someone trying to tighten a screw when it is obvious that the head is already knackered. Torx screwdrivers can last up to ten times longer than regular screwdrivers due to the resilience of the design. Maybe I just haven't tried it with the right size of driver, but it would be good to know what it is supposed to be. It is a versatile tool that can be used to remove or tighten screws in a variety of materials, and it is also comfortable to hold and use. Noticed some "Th" bits for sale, online somewhere, in a set with other types and couldn't see what they looked like.
