About this deal

The sense of distinction is definitely greater on the UE43BU8000, because of the additional brightness it provides to shiny image areas and the much less pronounced bloom points the place an image accommodates a mixture of gentle and darkish content material. However total the UE43AU7100 presents extra balanced and immersive darkish stage efficiency, a minimum of in a comparatively darkish room.

The UE43BU8000’s ‘AirSlim’ design really helps it stand out from the budget TV crowd, with its 26mm-deep rear creating an almost OLED-like look that’s particularly at home hung on a wall. With some top-of-the-shop content on board (and Scorsese’s The Irishman via Netflix remains a revealing watch, even if the Samsung can’t handle the Dolby Vision element), the AU7100 proves a composed, detailed watch with plenty of pertinent observations to makes regarding skin-tone, skin-texture and the general facial condition of the film’s elderly cast. Colours are subtlety differentiated, with plenty of variation available where shadows, patterns and textures are concerned.

High Quality 4K UHD Resolution

In terms of alternatives, LG’s own G2 is the most obvious. In many ways, it’s the same TV, but it goes even brighter thanks to the addition of a heatsink. It also has a picture frame-style ‘Gallery’ design. In fact, it comes with a wall mount rather than a pedestal stand. The G2 is undeniably a better TV than the C2 until you take pricing into account, at which point the C2 becomes the one that most people should actually buy. You also need to consider LG's 2023 TVs, which are now available. The C2's replacement, the C3, is only a slight upgrade, and it's priced higher than the C2 was at launch so is much more expensive than the discounted C2 models you'll currently find in shops. The new G3 is a big step up, particularly in terms of brightness, but it's also currently very expensive. QD-OLED, which is (broadly speaking) designed to blend the best qualities of both OLED and QLED, arrived in 2022 via the Samsung S95B and this Sony A95K. Ultra slim TVs usually have their innards in a separate media box. Not so with the Samsung UE40B8000.

This is a TV that combines the spectacular with cinematic subtlety in a very rare fashion. It thrills, but not in a way that’s even slightly showy. And it combines that with surprisingly atmospheric and engaging sound – though we would still, as ever, recommend a dedicated sound system if you’re serious about home cinema. The panel is 50Hz solely, so there is no such thing as a help. 4K/120Hz gaming. All three HDMI ports of UE43BU8000 cannot deal with SSITo go away ALLM as the one excellent gaming function provided. The UE43AU7100 doesn’t clamour for your attention on a crowded TV shelf or make any claims that it’s taking affordable TVs to places they’ve never gone before. You won’t see it turning up in any future ‘classic TV design’ exhibits, either. The bundled Bravia CAM – a camera that magnetically attaches to the rear of the set and peeks over the top of the screen – isn't terribly useful now and possibly never will be, but for picture quality the A95K is a star. It sounds great by TV standards too, thanks to its bespoke Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which utilizes actuators that imperceptibly vibrate the whole screen to make sound.
