L&G Acrobatic Gymnastics Club
Bagshot Gymnastics Club had been run successfully over the past 14 years by Linda Leach and Josie Gibson. However in July 2006 the club was dissolved. Josie now runs the new "Surrey Borders Club" and Linda runs "L&G Acrobatic Gymnastics Club".
Club Mission:
We believe gymnastics teaches good self-discipline and self esteem, good body control is a good base to all sports, a lifetime skill and also a fun way to exercise.
Sixteen gymnasts and their coaches from L&G Acrobatic Gym Club have just returned from Dornbirn in Austria where they represented Great Britain taking part in the World Gymnaestrada. The four yearly event is a celebration of gymnastics with displays by groups of gymnasts from all over the world. A total of 22,000 gymnasts from 57 nations and 5 continents took part.
L&G performed their seven and a half minute routine "Jump to the Beat" 6 times to large crowds and received tremendous applause for their acrobatic and tumbling skills. The girls and boys aged between 8 and 25 were often the centre of attention as they warmed up for their city performances in Bregenz and Höchst drawing huge crowds and were delighted when their picture appeared in a local Austrian Newspaper. The unforgettable experience also included taking part in the opening ceremony and a chance to meet fellow gymnasts from all corners of the world, from Australia to Alaska, Japan to Honduras and counties the children have never even heard of.
They now return to their club at Collingwood Gymnasts Centre to join the rest of the squad in preparation for their acrobatic and tumbling competitions in the autumn.
The L & G Acrobatic Gymnastics Club are now taking bookings for next term and have a few places left on holiday courses in August.
